Viva La Indifference

By Bonnie Starr Mandell-Rice

I remember years ago hearing that hate is not the opposite of love, indifference is. That made sense to me at the time, because hate and love (as many think of or experience them) involve passion and energy, though hate is an intense negative (low vibration) energy, while love is an intense positive (high vibration) energy. Indifference is the absence of any charge, positive or negative. Thus it seemed to have even less in common with love than does hate. Besides, I certainly didn’t want boys to be indifferent to me! I wanted them to be charged toward me, drawn to me like iron to a magnet. I have come to know, however, that indifference, when viewed simply as a neutral state, is not an absence of love but an expression of love that is unconditional, a state that simply allows what is to be what it is.

One of my great lessons in indifference came a few months back during a yoga class. As those of you who have been receiving my ezine for awhile know, I take Bikram yoga classes. Yoga, as with everything else in our lives if we pay attention, is a way in which we can come to learn more about ourselves.

Over the past 18 months since I began these classes, I have had a variety of teachers, each of whom has brought their own unique personality to the class. Some are inspirational, some are funny, some are energizing, and one was, well, bland. Some of the teachers offer specific corrections to students, and I appreciate receiving the corrections because that is how I improve my yoga practice. Other teachers praise postures well done, and I must confess that, when the praise has been directed toward me, I have been known to lap it up like a kitten does cream. To mix metaphors, I am a bit like Pavlov’s dogs that way – toss me a bone of praise and I will repeat the action to get another bone. The "bland" teacher offered neither correction nor praise, sticking instead to the Bikram script, which directs each step of every pose.

One day when I arrived at the yoga studio, the bland teacher was there. I felt disappointed, and noticing that, I caught myself thinking that the class would not be very good. I knew, however, that that did not have to be the case and that how good the class would be for me was up to me, not the teacher.

A few minutes later, as I stood facing myself in the mirror, waiting for the teacher to give the first instruction, I decided to dedicate the class to myself and to God (Higher Power). I had a great class. The teacher was the way that teacher always was. What I realized was that I was different. In classes with teachers who inspired me or praised me, I was doing the yoga practice for them as much (if not more than) for me. Because I liked them, I wanted them to like me, so I sought their approval. When I think of it, I realize I had not outgrown wanting to be teacher’s pet. On the other hand, I was detached about/indifferent to whether the "bland" teacher (who, by the way, is a very nice person) liked or approved of me. How liberating!

While I still enjoy the occasional praise, I find myself needing it less and less. My yoga practice is for me, not for my teacher. I also find that, while I still am holding onto the vision of my being able to do the perfect standing bow – essentially equivalent to doing a split while balancing on one leg, upper body parallel to the floor (it really is a beautiful posture when executed correctly!) – I am much gentler with myself when I do not even come close to accomplishing that or the other postures with any grace or ease.

I keep the vision but in each moment I remain indifferent – not attached – to the outcome. I just follow the instructions and let my body do the best it can in the moment. In that way, I am fully in the moment – not judging or criticizing or even praising it or myself. I can love myself where I am, as I am. I find too that when I do that, my yoga is better. If, when I fall out of a posture or don’t go as deep as I would like, I do not get upset or frustrated or judge it, I stay in the moment and the next posture is free to be what it is. Because I come to the next posture with an "empty" mind, one not dwelling on how well I did or didn’t do in the previous posture, I am better able to execute the next posture.

When we are present in and to the moment, whatever it brings, everything is "perfect," which means simply that all is as it "should" be. We know that it is so because it is what it is. How can anything be other than what it is in any given moment? Yet everything and everyone constantly is changing, sometimes imperceptibly. When we neither require the moment to be different nor cling to it, it flows effortlessly into the next moment, and the next and the next. Similarly, when we do not demand that we or another be a certain way and just accept where we or they are in the moment, who we are flows from moment to moment, from one way of being, feeling and doing to another. This indifference frees us to love ourselves, each other, and life exactly as we are and it is, for we need neither ourselves, nor others, nor life to be different than it is.

You Just Never Know

by Eileen Silon

In December 2007 I created a vision board. A vision board or goal poster is a way to focus on what you would like to manifest. Some people cut out pictures and words from magazines and glue them on a poster board for physical objects such as a particular car or house or job or clothes. Mine was all about balance, feeling good, allowing luxury, being confident in who I am and my physical self, including fitness and a lover in my life, and reaching out for incredible adventure. In short – living life fully.

I spent time focusing on it and projecting heart energy through it, imagining my life that way and thanking the universe for the wonderfulness that is my life.

Because there is a doubting part of me, I could not see where it was manifesting in my life in any way. On top of that, some kind of intensely upsetting process started at the end of January this year and I didn’t begin to come out of the chaos of it until the middle to end of May. You can read about it in my blog (see address below). I was physically sick for a long time. I felt stuck and definitely full of negative emotions, one of which was resentment that I intended for all sorts of wonderful things and then many seemingly negative things happened to me.

Well, I recently experienced an assimilation of a part of me that loves myself unconditionally during a magical trip to Sedona, AZ. This is a part of me that I had dissociated from long ago and had been struggling to find again. She brought with her lots of reassurance and information about remembering the joy of living in a human body. After this came through I experienced an inner peace that lasted for a week and a half. I grounded in a way I usually find difficult. Heck I usually find it difficult to ground for longer than an hour or two. I was able to release through my dreams some old energies that kept me from enjoying life. Those issues and energies are definitely a part of my biological family and culture in this life.

One day as I was wallowing in gratitude for the way I had been led to this experience I looked up and noticed my vision board. I started laughing and crying at the same time. I realized that the universe had been trying to bring to me all I envisioned but I needed to be able to accept it all. There was no way I would have accepted inner peace, balance between the spiritual and physical, luxurious comfort in the physical life, a great relationship and my own strengths and wonderfulness before. In asking/intending and visioning I opened the door to acceptance. I believe I can now have what I envisioned. I also am more aware that it may come in a different way than I except because things don’t always happen the way you think or want.

I am left with an expanded appreciation of how our higher selves and the universe works. It is always interesting to be reminded that these workings are usually more complicated or involved than our brains can understand. I imagine if I had only physical objects on my vision board it might have been different (ie a car or some machine I wanted or something). But that isn’t what I was craving when I embraced my vision. It is/was nothing less than embracing life fully and I needed to release some inner demons and reconnect with my self-acceptance and joy to get there. It just goes to show, when I intend/ask for something, I just never know how or what has to change/shift for me to get it.

Beyond

By Soleira Green

We're in a period of infinite change, experiencing evolutionary shifts of extraordinary proportions. So it's important to always be open to brand new ways of seeing things and to the ever unfolding brilliance of Life. I'm a free thinker and that means that I question everything and try to see from brand new, evolutionary places. So in this article, I'm pointing to some new ways of looking at and working with our evolutionary movement now. Enjoy!

Beyond being buffeted by the winds of change:

We're aware now that we're going through evolutionary shifts on a regular basis and with increasing frequency. In the past these shifts would knock us about somewhat ... making us tired, sleepy in the middle of the day, achy in our bodies, headachy and even nauseous sometimes. This has been because we've been getting used to and integrating higher vibrational frequencies. We're being bombarded by wonderful cosmic energies and Life source energies from within that are lifting us to a whole new level of being and a brilliant new vibrational reality.

I believe that we can now step beyond the struggle and angst of this. We no longer have to be tired, nauseous and generally buffeted about by the evolutionary winds of change. We can step graciously, easily and wonderfully into the strength and power of it all now. Using the following techniques, I've now been sturdy, energised and sustainable for a year and half solid. Here are the things I've adopted to get myself, and others we work with, to this place:

(1) Know that it is you, at the biggest and deepest levels of yourself, who is sourcing these energy shifts for you. If that's the case and you're sending them, then you can be consciously in charge of it and source the movement for yourself, and for all, with grace and ease. It's a simple matter of setting your intention for it and the energy aligns to your intention.

(2) Move beyond the personal approach to evolutionary shifts. Step into the new, collective, energy field of living consciousness and revel in the ecstatic communion with everything / All that waits for you there. It's a simple step forward from your personal energy into collective energy. The strength you'll discover as you live, work and play as a collective being is phenomenal. And what's really wonderful is that you become even MORE OF YOU when you step beyond yourself.

(3) Don't judge yourself or others. Judgement takes you out of connection with yourself, others and Life. Seek an empowering perspective for everything that happens to you and you'll find it much easier to sustain the vibe that will have you be vibrant, healthy and wonderfully alive.

(4) Don't buy into the view of a world in crisis. As conscious, collective creators, what we believe creates the reality for us all now. Choose to see this world in transformative motion towards something wonderfully new and exciting. We're standing in the middle of a magnificent time for the human race and our beautiful world .... and choosing to see it that way, empowers it into reality. Set your intention that you're a conscious creator of your life and our world now. Align yourself with what Life wants to bring forth ... and all manner of synergistic, magical opportunities, energy, people and abundance will come your way.

Beyond the law of attraction:

There's been a wonderful rush of people working with the law of attraction in the last months / years. That's great as we're training ourselves to see that we can create abundance beyond the normal 'work hard and earn enough to pay the bills' scenario. But the law of attraction work generally seems to be landing in the 'personal wealth' category and therefore missing the true power of it all. It's when you stand for abundance for all that the energy really moves and the consciousness sends abundance towards everything you do. It's about working in the collective fields for abundance for all rather than in the personal field for abundance just for you. It's in the collective energetics that the real synergy and magic springs into being.

To do this, simply breathe, relax and expand your energy from the centre of you outwards. Get as big as you can and CONNECT. Seek an ecstatic relationship with all of Life. Revel in the wonder of it all. From this place, call all of Life to the dance of abundance for all. Feel the Life source energies soar through you and into the world, alivening everything and bringing Life to Life. Intend that everyone and everything is wonderfully abundant in this world and send the energy of this out to be made real now. Then inside this vibrant, collective field, call your own people, resources, opportunities and abundance to you, saying something like 'if what I have to offer is for you, come find me.' Let the consciousness sing with your vibrant energy and the wonderful work that you do. Then thank the energy, the consciousness and Life itself and send wonderful energy back to it all as thanks for what you already know, without a shadow of a doubt, is coming your way.

We are so connected to the collective field now, that a simple thought can turn everything upside down for you. So the moment you have a thought like 'oh my gosh, where's the money going to come from', you've just pushed abundance away from you. So instead, energise from the collective field, with the power of your being and the vibrant zing of Life, all that you want to have made real now in this gorgeous world for all.

The Love Lazer

 By Suzanna Kennedy

This is an excerpt from the article The Love Laser by Suzanna Kennedy

The Love Laser, is a specific frequency of light energy that is focused and concentrated, like a light saber or a sword. It is projected from your heart center into the heart center of another. The light beam contains the transmuting characteristics of the Violet Flame, the ruby red Ray of Passion and the pink Ray of Compassion. The Platinum Ray surrounds the red/violet ray, which further defines, focuses and accelerates the power of the Beam. Anyone who is willing, can take up the Love Laser to help eradicate the fear-based Illusion of Separation.

Send the Love Laser to:

  • Anyone you know personally (including yourself) who is feeling or causing pain due to the feeling of Separation from God or from others.
  • Our leaders, so they may make wise decisions based in love and compassion rather than fear and vengeance.
  • Blessed Mother Earth to help her transmute the battle energy that is held in the land.

Following are the instructions on how to receive and use the Love Laser.

  1. To be initiated as a Love Laser Peacemaker, state this command with intense intention and feeling. I AM now commanding the Initiation of the Beam of Passionate Compassion.
  2. See, feel, and know that beam of light coming in through the top of your head and moving all the way through your body and continuing down into the Heart of the Earth. This beam of light is the color Red-violet. It comes from the Great Central Sun.
  3. As it moves through you, start breathing it in. See, feel, imagine, and command that it enter all of the cells of your body. Continue to expand it until it fills up your physical body. Then expand it more to fill up your energy field. Fill yourself to overflowing. Feel a fountain of red-violet energy coming out of your head and flowing down your body and into the atmosphere around you.
  4. Now see a beam of this red/violet light coming out of the center of your chest. This is your heart center/chakra.
  5. Surround the red-violet ray with the Platinum Ray. This is the Love Laser.
  6. Give this command, "I AM now commanding the Love Laser cut through the veils of separation surrounding the heart of all beings who believe in the Illusion of Separation."
  7. See the Laser filling the hearts of all those who believe in separation. Watch, imagine, and command that the platinum coated red-violet ray spreads all the way through their bodies and into the Heart of the Earth. Watch, imagine, and command that the laser fills them to overflowing like a fountain.
  8. From your heart, send this communication through the laser beam, "You are Divine Light. You are Divine Love. We are all One." Say this three times.
  9. Now see their Higher Self recognize the truth and take over the mantra: I AM Divine Light. I AM Divine Love. I AM Divine Unity. I AM That I AM." Hear and feel this mantra being repeated by the Higher Self over and over again until the ego hears it and begins to remember the truth of it and starts to chant it.
  10. Now see this overflowing energy moving all over the surface of the Earth and filling up the energy body of the Earth.
  11. Feel the energy in you, in the Earth and in all beings.
  12. Feel the Oneness.
  13. Feel the Awakening.
  14. Feel the gratitude and give thanks.
  15. It is Done. So Be It! So It Is!

Integrity is Hitting the Market Place

By Julia Williams

What is this word ‘integrity’ which is being used more and more frequently in the world of commerce? As we are not quite sure how to define it, is it going the same route as ‘holistic’ and ‘organic’ to be overused and distorted from the purity of its essential meaning? From my observations, I think language itself is losing its integrity as original meanings are changing and distorting, through texting and cross-cultural additions. Those who are less interested in the original meaning of words interpret them according to their own values and create new variations. There is nothing wrong here. With the same exciting creativity they/we also add to the ever changing band wagon of the latest buzzwords whose meaning only carries the latest narrow slant for those first in the know. But how do we communicate with clarity?

At the risk of distorting the meaning myself, I would say ‘integrity’ is staying utterly true to one’s core values; being rigorously and often brutally honest with oneself; not compromising to suit others expectations, with clear intention, daring to act according to what feels right for one to do and say. At its best it carries with it, full respect for the often opposing differences of others.

The word comes from the Latin root which has the same base as ‘integrated’. Someone with integrity is therefore ‘together’ as a person, not battling with him/herself. The mind, heart and gut all working together creates a congruent whole person who is therefore highly impactful, influential and productive, no matter how quietly so. Neither is it time bound. It does not vary from day to day or from decision to another. A person either has it, or doesn’t have it. When materially successful people recognized it in themselves and own it, they are much happier. It’s the difference between true happiness and outer wealth. They are not at all mutually exclusive but a man of integrity is far happier without millions than a man without integrity with millions, as the latter doesn’t know how to be or has sacrificed being true to himself.

Having worked as a coach for nearly 30 years I had to face the daily challenge of holding my core value of integrity which I saw as being the greatest gift I could develop in my clients, when they thought they were being coached to become more commercially successful. They achieved their outcomes too of course, but not by the route they imagined. When I chose to play the corporate game like so many of you, facilitators and coaches, it was not helpful to mention these abstract concepts of human qualities based on soulfulness. To gain their attention I had to engage in corporate management speak which did not come easily. That was the only way to achieve a win/win situation. I won by gaining my place to do the work I value, and they gained by getting more than they bargained for, in confidence, self- awareness, personal effectiveness and a whole range of new soft skills.

I had to dress the work of Personal Impact in all kinds of attractive garments like ‘Influencing skills’ ‘Powerful presentations’ ‘Voice training’ ‘Assertiveness training" etc. to enable the most senior leaders in organisations to find the time and resources to do some crucial self-development. Like so many I had to masquerade as the designer-suited, successful, corporate norm in order to be able to reach people who would run a mile if you mentioned the words spiritual, soul, energy or integrity. One reason why I am writing this is because I feel the corporate climate is changing and I for one, have at last been able to take off the wraps.

In the past, you could always find integrity in small caring groups who were pioneering social change based on values that challenged human and planetary abuse and therefore the status quo. But they were not popular because they always rocked the boat. From a base line of values like justice, fairness, and equality, we have always grown small philanthropic organisations and charities of many kinds that have for a long time supported the sick and underprivileged. The change is that these all have to become global. Thanks to the Internet, charities, by which I mean people care and planetary care, have entered new arenas.

What I see has changed in recent months is that charities have entered, with their integrity, into the business community in the form of planetary CRS (Corporate Social Responsibility). With fuller awareness of how we have abused ourselves and the planet, comes a new focus on individual responsibility in the corporate world, from which there is no escape, no matter who you are and what you do. We are all individually responsible for who we are and what we do with ourselves and there is no escape from that. It sounds heavy, but the good news is that when you find it, you discover your real passion, your real love and the joy being alive today.

That is where integrity sits. That awareness of your connection to everything brings the joy, and what you need to do, or not do. So if you are not used to being totally honest with yourself, and are not used to looking at your real and deepest motivations for doing anything, and your head and your heart are at loggerheads, how can you be clear with yourself about what is the best thing for you to do? When you know how to integrate your head and heart, you can live with integrity. Those who do, stand out from the others and are fired with passion. They know that relationship, with yourself first, is the key to it. From finding your true self comes the passion, then the practical relationship with others and your relationship to the planet at large.

Working both for yourself and for the planet and can often look at odds, but in fact it is not. Seeing, feeling, knowing, appreciating that connection does not come overnight unless you have been forced to face it head on in some personal shape or form. And that is what most of us are having to face right now in this recession/financial uncertainty. Being true to yourself is what businesses now are having to face full on. Relationships crumble in times of stress unless they are based on deep foundations and it is no different in the corporate world.

In the last few months I have been attracted to many new networking groups where the core leaders are coming from that new place of integrity. Rather than seeking people with the obvious marketing, IT or management skills to fine outlets for their products and services, they are seeking business connections that are personally meaningful, genuine and committed. The key is to form relationships with those whose values match yours and then, rather like a healthy family, it is self-supporting and sustainable in both feast and famine.

The quality of support and positive regard of just two groups demonstrate to each other, and to everyone they meet, has inspired me to write this piece. I would like to recommend them without reservation to anyone who feels attuned to this way of making connections.

The Athena Network is for women entrepreneurs whom they address as ladies. It is regionally based throughout the UK and sells local franchises (nearly 100 groups in 2 years) I believe because of the total commitment and integrity of its founders, Jacqueline Rogers and Louise Heasman. There are formal lunches for ladies once a month, based roughly on the format of the BNI but with a focus on sharing skills rather than getting brownie points for referrals, and holding additional informal meetings – Cappuccino Connections once a month in mornings - with an open invitation for anyone to come free of charge. See www.theathenanetwork.com They teach networking skills and how to form profitable strategic alliances with new tips at every meeting.

EClub and EBEN (a more committed level of EClub) is also a tremendously inspiring forum for SMEs (small and medium enterprises) to build sustainable businesses out of sound, ongoing relationships. These are grown by providing a free forum for connecting people of similar values through trust and integrity, instead of the old way of simply looking for people with desirable skills and expertise. This means friendships are formed and developed in this context by those who like each other before any committed engagement to sales, marketing or business operations takes place. This pioneering group of high caliber guys know that what you offer comes back to you and they have been truly walking their talk over the last 2/3 years. They are all ex-city guys who are making a difference to the commercial world by bringing a higher level of personal integrity to business communities everywhere. There is no membership fee. Eclub is open to anyone who is interested. Contact Shaun Cooper at shauncooper@franklinwaugh.com.

The impact of these two networks is not small. If you would like to comment on anything I have written I would be delighted to hear from you.
